The idea behind New Horizon Code
Who we are, what we build, and why we build it this way.
New Horizon Code is a technology holding company based in Brisbane, Australia. We build secure, compliance-first software for organisations across Australia and beyond, and we look after it for as long as people rely on it.
Too many industries still run on spreadsheets, shared inboxes and good intentions. The people doing the most important work, from frontline support workers to the executives responsible for them, end up bending their day around tools that were never designed for them. We exist to change that.
Our mission is to make powerful software accessible to the organisations that need it most, so they can build inclusive, efficient and innovative workplaces. Our vision is to lead in purpose-driven technology, setting the standard for security, inclusion and user experience in every product we ship.
The company began in 2018, when AdamsITneeds became New Horizon Code, and was incorporated in Brisbane a year later. In 2020 we started work on what would become our flagship platform. We spent 2022 laying foundations: infrastructure, development processes, and a plan for a portfolio of specialised platforms rather than a single product.
In 2023 we rebuilt Diversity Sync'd from a promising prototype into a production-grade platform, shaped by feedback from the people using it every day. In 2024 Carey, our NDIS plan management tool, reached version one, and we launched Syrup. In 2025 Diversity Sync'd launched publicly and grew to more than four times its original user base, with Carey folded into it, AI features introduced across every platform, and a complete redesign of our brand. Each year is written up in our yearly letters.
Today, 13 companies sit under one roof. Diversity Sync'd brings compliance, recordkeeping, rostering and support workflows together for NDIS and child safety providers. Syrup, our product studio, designs and builds web apps and MVPs for startups and scaleups, and lends the same design and engineering depth to everything else we make.
Alongside them, Profile Dock gives professionals a modern home for their identity online. Relay Pilot gives support teams lightweight ticketing, live chat and a help centre. SEO Crawler tells website owners exactly what to fix to improve their search results. And Vexion hosts fast, secure game servers for competitive and community play. The rest, from directories to developer and security tools, are on our companies page.
Together, our platforms serve more than 50,000 users. We keep them running at 99.9% uptime on resilient cloud infrastructure across multiple regions, because the people who depend on them work around the clock.
Each company has its own focus, but all of them share the same standards. Security comes first: encryption end to end, role-based access controls and continuous monitoring are part of every product from day one. Continuous testing, code review and observability let us ship quickly without breaking what customers depend on. And we contribute back to the open-source community whose libraries and tools we rely on ourselves.
We choose the right tools for each problem rather than forcing one stack onto all of them. Our products are built with Next.js, React and Vue in TypeScript, run on Node.js and Python with Supabase and PostgreSQL behind them, and ship through Docker and Kubernetes onto AWS and Vercel.
We are now a team of more than twelve engineers, designers and operators, with decades of combined experience in technology, design and business strategy. The company is led by Adam Burns, our CEO and founder; Sean Stofberg, who heads security and operations; Daniel Olivero, who leads development and finance; and Kiaan Edge-Ford, our technical lead.
We value diverse perspectives and open communication. Work is shared, reviewed and improved together, bold ideas are encouraged, and everyone has room to question how things are done. We also believe good work takes rested people, so our flexible working environment leaves room for a life outside of it.
Next, we are preparing to take Diversity Sync'd beyond Australia while we keep improving every product in the portfolio. The goal has not changed since 2018: start where things are still held together by spreadsheets and good intentions, make something specific, and then look after it.
If you are an engineer, designer or operator who cares about building software the right way, we would love to hear from you. And whoever you are, thank you for taking the time to get to know us.
